Introduction
When BMW launched its two-door ‘neue classe’ small saloons in 1966, they were not only creating a quick, reliable, usable and attractive car, but they set the blueprint for everything to come. The reception was fantastic, the volumes rocketed and BMW moved from niche manufacturer to major player. The iconic 3 series was built straight off the back of this car and they haven’t looked back since.
